Peter Evans solo (US)
Peter Evans – trumpets
Peter Evans is a phenomenon. His mastery of the trumpet is just as incredible as his desire to blaze new trails in music. He even has the audacity for a solo recital, which, to be honest, requires true courage.
Although Evans gets a helping hand from electronics, his music is deeply founded on his phenomenal skill with the instrument and his passion for discovering new sounds. He has been playing the trumpet solo since 2002, but he still found time to start the Peter Evans Ensemble and Being & Becoming and to join the collectively directed ensembles Pulverize the Sound and Rocket Science, where he met with the most distinctive figures of New York’s experimental scene. Other major collaborations include performances with John Zorn, Ingrid Laubrock, or Jim Black. Evans’ newest solo recording is aptly titled Lifeblood, and it will form the core of his Brno recital. The audience can look forward to intense, piercing, colourful music, with flashes of Evans’ natural lyricism glinting here and there through the rich weave.

Divergent Connections Orchestra is the grandest project of the Brno improviser and experimenter Pavel Zlámal to date.
The Janáček Academy graduate invited the collaboration of musicians from diverse genre backgrounds who are not impartial to exploring beyond the customary boundaries. The musical expertise of the orchestra’s members allows for both uncompromising sound experiments and the implementations of stylistic clichés in surprising contexts. Pavel Zlámal intervenes to divert the musical flow through a system of unorthodox conducting gestures. The resulting music is the work of momentary creation and the fruit of mutual interaction between the musicians and the conductor.
The courage to waive the safety of time-worn styles and form, balancing on the brink of uncertainty, the performative character of the productions, and the ever-present element of surprise easily reminds of the likes of Frank Zappa, Barry Guy, Walter Thomson, John Zorn, Butch Morris, Evan Parker, Sun Ra Arkestra, and others. In June 2017 the orchestra released a recording of one of its concerts as its debut album “Odlet III” (Departure III) with the Brno label Ears & Wind Records.
